Mobile Plant & Machinery Engineer

Location: Hertfordshire area (site-based with travel within approx. 1-1.5 hour radius)Salary: Up to £65,000 + OTEHours: Monday-Friday (seasonal hours apply)

  • March-October: 7:00am - 5:00pm
  • Winter: 7:00am - 4:00pmHoliday: 29 days (including bank holidays)Benefits: Company van, laptop, phone, overtime available, pension
The Role

An established, family-run business is seeking an experienced Mobile Plant & Machinery Engineer to join their small, close-knit team. This role offers a high level of autonomy and variety, working both on-site and at customer locations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Fault-finding, servicing, repairs, and maintenance on a range of commercial vehicles, construction plant, and agricultural machinery
  • Fabrication, fitting, and installation of mechanical components
  • Conducting inspections and preparing equipment for compliance and certification
  • Supporting busy seasonal periods, including occasional call-outs
  • Completing job sheets, service logs, and associated paperwork
  • Managing workload to meet deadlines and company expectations
  • Monitoring and ordering parts, materials, and consumables
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • At least 5 years' hands-on experience with plant, agricultural, or heavy equipment
  • Strong mechanical knowledge across a variety of machinery
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Experience with hydraulics and auto electrical systems
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally
  • Experience operating machinery such as telehandlers, excavators, and tractors
  • Welding and fabrication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience with fleet/workshop management systems
