Job Title: Allocation Team Manager

Salary: PO6 | Full-Time | Contract
The London Borough of Newham is seeking an experienced Allocation Team Manager to lead a dynamic team delivering housing allocations in line with statutory duties and council policy. Reporting to the Head of Allocations & Choice Homes UK, you will manage Lettings Officers and oversee complex cases including decants, under-occupation transfers and special schemes.
You will ensure legal compliance, monitor performance, provide training, and foster cross-service partnerships, particularly with voids, homelessness and temporary accommodation teams. This role also includes oversight of contracts and budgets up to £50K.
Essential Requirements:
Strong working knowledge of the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and associated guidance
Proven leadership in social housing allocations within a complex environment
Ability to manage teams, performance data, complaints, and cross-service improvements
Educated to degree level or with equivalent relevant experience
