Join our dedicated team as a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant in a specialist SEMH primary school. This temporary opportunity is perfect for individuals passionate about inclusive education and eager to grow professionally in a structured and supportive environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist teachers in preparing differentiated lessons and creating learning materials tailored to pupils with SEMH needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
- Support pupils in small groups and one-to-one settings across all curriculum areas, reinforcing behavioural, social, and emotional learning strategies.
- Help pupils develop independence and confidence through personalised learning and therapeutic support.
- Liaise with teachers, care staff, and external professionals to support pupil progress and ensure a cohesive educational approach.
- Participate in educational visits and contribute to creative and practical activities that enhance learning experiences.
- Carry out basic administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, and display work to support classroom activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Full-time availability (Monday–Friday, 08:40–15:55).
- Experience working with children, ideally in an educational or SEMH setting.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management.
- Good ICT skills and ability to support learning with technology.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
