Heidelberg Materials UK is seeking a proactive and capable Assistant Quarry Manager to support the Unit Manager in delivering exceptional performance across our quarrying and associated depot operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to develop their career in operational leadership within the aggregates industry. As Assistant Quarry Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring our sites operate safely, efficiently, and in line with environmental and compliance standards-while helping lead and develop our operational teams.
What You'll Be DoingYou'll support the Unit Manager in driving performance across all operational areas, including:
Health & Safety- Champion the highest standards in line with Heidelberg Materials' Health & Safety Plan.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance site safety performance.
Environment- Operate to the highest environmental standards in line with our Environmental Management Plan.
- Support ongoing improvements to reduce environmental impact.
Compliance- Ensure all statutory legislation and company policies are consistently applied.
Operations- Contribute to achieving optimal production levels at the lowest operational cost.
- Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency.
Distribution & Customer Service- Work closely with logistics to ensure efficient distribution processes and excellent customer service.
Quality- Collaborate with the technical team to maintain high product quality at efficient operational cost.
Business Analysis- Assist in ensuring management information is accurate, relevant, and used effectively to support business decisions.
- Help identify and progress profit-enhancing opportunities.
Broader ResponsibilitiesResource Planning- Support effective staffing, training, and development of operational teams.
- Ensure assets and resources align with business plan delivery.
- Help develop talent pipelines and succession planning.
Leadership & Direction- Provide day‑to‑day leadership and clear communication of operational goals.
- Support and develop team members to achieve performance expectations.
Operational Control- Ensure effective controls are in place across all areas, including health & safety, environmental compliance, capital project management, and revenue spend.
