The role
Smart Teachers are recruiting an Early Years Teaching Assistant to work in a friendly nursery and children's centre in Haringey. The ideal candidate will be seeking flexible work (2-3 days per week) to support when there are staff shortages. The Early Years Teaching Assistant will also be required to be available from 8-6 as the hours vary depending on the needs of the nursery and children's centre. The usual shift patterns are 8.00 - 16.00, 08.30 - 16.30 or 13.00 - 18.00. The successful Early Years Teaching Assistant will ideally have experience with the younger years and feel comfortable supporting children aged 1 - 4 years. This role would be perfect for a student who enjoys the flexibility of working and studying freely within the week or those who must commit to other activities within the week. This would also be a great experience for those who wish to pursue a career in education and require experience with children to help with their university application/career applications.

The school
The Nursery and Children's centre is a lovely place to work, where staff encourage pupils to learn via play whilst facilitating a warm and caring environment. There are various sections of the centre which are separated depending on age group you would be working with. Each room is distinguished by a particular colour, making it easy to understand where you will be working and with what aged pupils. There is a central hub within the centre where parents will usually wait to either drop or pick up their children. The Nursery and Children's centre has lots of facilities to enable an enjoyable experience for both children and staff, including large sand pots, water features and interactive music rooms. The team are all young, friendly, and really supportive and all candidates who have worked there previously are always eager to get back!

To be considered for the Early Years Teaching Assistant, you must:

  • Level 3 or degree equivalent
  • Have recent or past experience working in Primary with young children
  • Are flexible between 8 and 6, the opening times of the nursery and children's centre
  • Are available 2 - 3 days per week
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (must have a valid visa)
