Full Time 37.5 hours, 8.45am - 4.45pm

Global CTS Recruitment is working exclusively with an established social enterprise with a turnover of approximately £1M based in the Abingdon area, serving the geographic community in Oxfordshire. They have two main objectives, firstly, to support individuals within the community who want to work yet face barriers to employment. Secondly to contribute to a circular economy in Oxfordshire by recovering wood from waste for reuse.

They currently employ 22 staff and house a charity funded work programme. The social enterprise is majority funded from trading, via commercial wood waste collections, reclaim and reuse of wood for DIY, sales of sustainable timber /wood products and commercial manufacturing.

About the Business

The retail business is normally open 6 days per week, the shop is the primary outlet for the sale of refurbished reclaimed materials from commercial waste. In addition, reclaimed material is bought wholesale for re-selling, along with ancillaries such as ironmongery and wood treatment. The shop also provides work experience for job seekers.

Job Purpose

You will manage the operation of the shop to the business plan and performance targets set with and by the board of directors and CEO. The role sits within the Senior Team and involves hands-on operational management of the business, staff and facilities, and co-ordination with the collections and commercial manufacturing activities.

Main Task and Responsibilities

* Achievement of all sales and profit targets agreed for the retail business

* Manage stock and product lines and relationships with suppliers

* Develop new product lines and stock ranges in line with resources, sales and profit targets and procurement policy

* Provide inspirational and motivational leadership and line management for the team

* Provide input into the marketing plan and work closely with the marketing manager to promote retail sales growth

* Implement and improve processes for Health and Safety management and review across all functions and facilities

* Maintain and improve business operating systems

* Carry out facilities management, maintaining the integrity and security of the building and, with the support of the administrator, providing oversight of utility and maintenance contracts

Management and Development

* Recruit, motivate, supervise, and appraise the performance and workload of staff and apprentices

* Support the career development of staff members

* Actively participate in senior team meetings, training, and activities

Other Duties and Responsibilities

* Work with the employment coaches to provide and coordinate work experience activities for job seekers

* Coordinate and supervise periodic work experience volunteers from local schools
