Design Manager (Future Head of Design) Office-Based (East London) | Permanent | July 2025

The Role:
This is a big role, with bigger potential ideal for someone who wants to build a team, own the process, and grow into a leadership position as the company continues to expand.

This is a family-run main contractor making serious strides in the leisure and public sector build world with high-spec refurbishments and new builds typically ranging from £1012m.

You'll be office-based working directly with the leadership team and managing consultants from RIBA Stage 2 through to 4 ensuring quality, coordination, and buildability are never compromised. It's a big role with big potential.

The Projects:
• £10m£12m D&B schemes
• ~7080% of the work is in leisure both refurbishments and new builds
• Also active in education, civic, and specialist-use spaces
• All design & build, mostly negotiated work

What they're looking for:
• Design Manager experience on leisure or commercial projects
• Experience as a Design Manager with main contractors
• Confident reviewing drawings, surveys, and technical info
• Able to manage consultants and drive design through stages 2, 3 and 4

The Company:
Don't expect a faceless PLC. This is a tight-knit, family-owned contractor that's big enough to deliver quality, but small enough to care. You'll be working closely with the director. They're growing sustainably, and this role is part of the next step forward.
