Mimecast is looking for an experienced Software Architect to join the Search team. In this role you will provide technical leadership in a fast-paced, data-driven environment. We have a highly collaborative organization where you work within and across teams to architect/design/maintain a platform that stores and indexes petabytes of data to provide our customers with market-leading Archive Search


Work with fellow architects, engineers, and product managers to solve interesting problems at massive scale. You will be deeply engaged and hands-on in the full development lifecycle from designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, monitoring and improving our search infrastructure.


  • 10+ years of software development experience; BS/MS in Computer Science
  • Expertise with Java or similar object-oriented languages
  • Experience building high volume, scalable, distributed back-end services
  • Knowledge of or desire to learn search technologies like Lucene or ElasticSearch
  • Provide vision, leadership and manage the evolution of a 2-5 year architectural roadmap
  • Ensure all non-functional requirements (e.g. performance, availability and
    fail-over, scalability, security, etc.) are designed in and delivered
  • Excellent collaboration, influencing, evangelization, negotiation, coaching, mentoring, and coalition-building skills.
  • Evaluate existing software solutions to identify areas for improvement
  • Serve as a technical adviser for software development projects and ensure they align with the business needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Keep abreast of related industry technologies, tools and standards
  • A great team player, with demonstrable experience delivering superior software products via Agile methodologies
