We are looking for experienced and supportive Primary Teaching Assistants to work in a range of primary schools across Swadlincote and the surrounding areas. These roles are ideal for candidates seeking flexible day-to-day work, consistent part-time hours, or full-time long-term placements.

About the Role

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment. You will work under the direction of the class teacher and contribute to pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.

Responsibilities

Support pupils 1:1, in small groups, and within whole-class settings

Assist with phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy activities

Help prepare learning resources and support lesson delivery

Promote positive behaviour and support classroom routines

Provide tailored support for pupils with SEND or additional needs

Supervise pupils during transitions, activities, and break times

Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (CACHE/NCFE or equivalent)

Recent UK school experience, ideally within a primary setting

A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection

Strong communication skills and a positive attitude

A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Desirable Experience

Knowledge of EYFS, KS1, or KS2 curriculum

Experience supporting phonics (e.g., Read Write Inc, Little Wandle)

Experience working with SEND, EAL, or behavioural needs

Ability to deliver small-group interventions
