Abatec are assisting a leading M&E contractor who are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor at Hinkley Point C. Our client is at the forefront of delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will:

* Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets, ensuring cost control and compliance with financial targets.

* Help produce and manage cost estimates, forecasts, and reports.

* Support the preparation and analysis of tenders, contract negotiations, and supplier/subcontractor management.

* Assist in the management of subcontractor accounts, including valuations, payments, and variations.

* Conduct site visits to ensure accurate measurement and assess any variations to the original contract.

* Assist in the preparation of final accounts and post-contract duties.

* Work closely with the project management team to provide cost-related advice and support.

* Ensure all contractual documentation is up-to-date and accurately reflects project costs.

* Provide support for project financial audits, ensuring that all activities are in line with company standards and regulations.

Our client requires an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with:

* Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related field (or equivalent experience).

* A keen interest in working within the construction or engineering sector.

* Some experience in quantity surveying, ideally within the construction, engineering, or energy sectors, though not essential.

* Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and any relevant quantity surveying software.

* A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently when required.

* A strong desire to develop your career in Quantity Surveying.
