Reed is seeking a Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day operations of a children’s home. This role involves deputising for the Registered Manager as needed and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and service to young people. The Deputy Manager will play a crucial role in managing and developing the home, supporting staff, and driving the delivery of excellent quality service.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist in managing the home's delivery and outcomes, ensuring that care plans are effectively implemented and reviewed.
  • Provide a safe working environment, identifying safeguarding needs and promoting a culture of safeguarding within the team.
  • Promote and develop the health, education, and welfare of young people in line with placement plans.
  • Maintain team practice that promotes the safety of young people and involves them in decisions about their care.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989, Children Home Regulations, and Quality Standards.
  • Supervise and manage the team, supporting the Registered Manager in team development and performance management.
  • Manage staff rotas, shift management, and ensure adequate shift coverage.
  • Oversee the home's financial operations, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and budget allocations.
  • Maintain professional relationships with commissioners, safeguarding partnerships, and other stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for young people.
  • Represent the organisation in a professional manner and maintain high standards of childcare practice.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • At least two years' experience in a managerial or senior role with supervision experience.
  • Knowledge of the Regulations and Standards for Residential Children's Homes.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and responsively to meet the needs of young people.
  • Proficiency in managing budgets and financial processes.
