Our Client, a Greater Manchester council is seeking a Children’s Independent Reviewing Officer to join their Team.

Responsibilities of this role:
- Chair statutory reviews for looked-after children, ensuring care plans are robust, child-centred, and aligned with legislative requirements.
- Provide independent oversight and challenge to social work practice, escalating concerns where statutory duties, timescales, or quality standards are not met.
- Monitor the progress of care plans between reviews, ensuring actions are completed and children’s outcomes remain the primary focus.
- Build meaningful relationships with children and young people, ensuring their voices, wishes, and feelings are central to decision-making.
- Lead on the processing of Subject Access Requests (SARs), ensuring compliance with GDPR and data protection legislation.
- Coordinate information gathering for SARs across children’s services, working with teams to produce accurate, timely, and appropriately redacted records.
- Provide expert advice to staff on confidentiality, information-sharing, and data protection principles.
- Maintain high-quality records and reporting, contributing to service performance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.
Requirements of this role:
- Must be a Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
- Must have minimum of 3 years post qualifying social work experience
