About the Role

Are you passionate about science and eager to support the next generation of scientists? Complete Classroom Services are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and well-organised Science Technician to join a forward-thinking and supportive Science Department within a highly respected school in Southwark.

This is an excellent opportunity to become a key part of a department committed to delivering high-quality scientific education. You will support practical lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and SEN, ensuring students and teachers have a safe, well-maintained, and stimulating learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, set up, and test equipment, materials, and chemicals for practical science lessons.
  • Support teaching staff during experiments, demonstrations, and practical activities.
  • Ensure safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals in line with COSHH and school safety policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and safety standards across all laboratories and prep rooms.
  • Carry out routine equipment maintenance and identify items needing repair or replacement.
  • Maintain accurate stock inventories and assist in ordering new resources.
  • Prepare displays, resources, and materials for open evenings, science fairs, and curriculum events.
  • Assist with risk assessments and ensure all health & safety protocols are followed by students and staff.
  • Contribute to developing engaging experiments and practical activities that enhance learning.
  • Support with administrative and technical tasks within the department as required.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience working as a Science Technician, ideally within a school setting (preferred but not essential).
  • Hold a science-related qualification (A-Level or higher is desirable).
  • Have good understanding of laboratory safety, chemical handling, and COSHH regulations.
  • Be organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail.
  • Work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Communicate clearly with teachers, students, and colleagues.
  • Show a genuine interest in science education and supporting student progress.
