Senior Buyer – Leeds – Competitive package

You will take ownership of the strategic sourcing and procurement of materials, ensuring alignment with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production requirements.

Duties:

• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to ensure competitive cost and value.
• Procure materials in accordance with specifications, quality standards, and manufacturing requirements.
• Collaborate with suppliers to investigate and resolve quality or delivery issues.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop new and alternative sources for products.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance expectations related to cost, quality, delivery, and service are met.
• Support new product introductions (NPI) and engineering changes by coordinating supplier readiness and material transitions.
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Analyse demand signals, forecasts, and MRP outputs to proactively manage material availability.
• Maintain awareness of purchasing policies, regulatory requirements, trade considerations, and market conditions.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
• Purchasing experience in an MRP-driven manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and commodity categories.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
• Experience supporting and implementing change management initiatives.
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with peers, suppliers, and customers.
• Service-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
