MERITUS are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join our client within the defence space in Bolton on an initial 12 month contract, PLEASE NOTE: You MUST have a HNC and be able to evidence it at application stage to be considered for the role.

An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join a Calibration & Maintenance team within a high-precision manufacturing environment. The role offers a varied and technically challenging workload, supporting production across all stages of assembly, integration, and testing.
You will be part of a proactive and collaborative team, working closely with engineering and support functions to resolve both routine and complex technical issues within the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to the metrology function, covering both commercial off-the-shelf equipment and bespoke test systems.
Support calibration and maintenance activities across a range of mechanical and measurement equipment.
Assist production teams with technical queries relating to fixtures, tooling, and measurement processes.
Contribute to coordinate measuring machine (CMM) inspection activities, including program creation and operation.
Advise operators on best practices within the metrology environment and support day-to-day technical problem solving.
Identify and implement improvements to measurement techniques and processes.
Provide support for mechanical calibration activities, including pressure and temperature calibration.
Skills & Experience Required:
Minimum qualification: HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
Proven experience calibrating torque tools in line with ISO 6789-2:2017.
Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience in dimensional calibration techniques.
Hands-on experience using and programming coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
Knowledge of temperature and pressure calibration (desirable).
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
