The Role
We are seeking a full-time Credit Controller who will be based in Eastleigh, Southampton to support the Finance department in managing the company’s debtor ledger, ensuring timely payment of debts, reducing outstanding balances, and maintaining healthy cash flow. The role is crucial in supporting the business’s financial stability through strong customer communication and effective collection procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage the collection of all outstanding accounts.
- Liaise with clients to resolve overdue payments, queries, or disputes promptly and professionally.
- Maintain accurate records of all chasing activity, payment promises, and customer interactions.
- Reconcile customer accounts and produce statements.
- Escalate problem accounts internally and propose actions such as suspending customers services or initiating legal recovery processes.
- Work closely with the Sales and Customer Service teams to maintain customer relationships.
- Prepare debtor reports for weekly management review.
- Maintain the billing inbox, ensuring emails are dealt with swiftly and professionally.
- Assist with the preparation and completion of the monthly billing run.
- Assist with month-end closing by ensuring all cash receipts are posted accurately and timely in the billing platform.
Essential experience, skills and knowledge:
- Proven experience in credit control or accounts receivable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the finance department.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
