The Opportunity

We're exclusively recruiting on behalf of a globally renowned machine tool manufacturer, recognised for their innovation, heritage, and cutting-edge CNC technologies. This General Sales Manager role presents a rare opportunity to lead a well-established northern territory sales team for a true market leader in the metal cutting industry.

This senior leadership position reports into the UK Sales Director and is responsible for leading a team of Area Sales Managers and Sales Engineers. You'll play a pivotal role in driving regional strategy, supporting the achievement of a circa £22M capital equipment sales target, and further strengthening market presence across your territory.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and inspire a team of high-performing sales professionals

Develop individual capabilities through regular 1-to-1s and structured coaching

Manage daily and long-term sales forecasting through CRM platforms

Strengthen relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders

Support succession planning, team structure, and continuous improvement initiatives

Deliver growth in both existing and new accounts across a diverse CNC portfolio

Align internal resources (Applications, Service, Technical Support) to meet customer needs

Ensure accurate documentation, commercial terms, and payment milestones are met

Report monthly performance and contribute to wider strategic business planning

Represent the brand and its values with professionalism and credibility

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience:

Minimum 5 years of capital equipment sales experience in engineering/manufacturing

Strong commercial acumen and high-value negotiation skills

Proven success managing or mentoring sales teams (or ready to take that next step)

Excellent communicator, able to engage and influence at all business levels

Proficient with CRM systems and sales forecasting tools

Comfortable managing high revenue targets with precision and accountability

Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

Prior experience in CNC machine tool or metal cutting technologies

Team leadership within a structured, target-driven environment
