A human-focused, sustainable engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal or Associate Public Health Engineer to join their Reading office. This senior, client-facing role involves delivering complex projects across commercial, residential, and mission-critical sectors while supporting and mentoring junior team members.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

* Lead the day-to-day technical delivery of public health design services for multi-disciplinary projects

* Develop initial strategic concepts, ensuring solutions meet briefs, British Standards, and regulatory requirements

* Work closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams to translate briefs into actionable designs

* Support project monitoring, including fee expenditure, resources, and outputs

* Mentor and develop apprentices, graduates, and junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team

* Contribute to repeat and new business opportunities, ensuring high-quality and profitable delivery

Candidate Profile

* Proven experience as a Public Health Engineer or in a closely related role, delivering complex projects

* Solid understanding of drainage services, including rainwater and domestic water systems

* Consultancy experience preferred

* Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD, and familiar with relevant British Standards

* Collaborative, self-aware, and open-minded, with strong client-facing and communication skills

* Experienced in supporting the development of others within a team
