Head of Data Engineering

This is a unique opportunity to influence and deliver cutting-edge data solutions at scale. You'll play a key role in developing a state-of-the-art data mesh architecture on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), enabling decentralised, self-serve data products across multiple teams.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Define the vision for engineering and data delivery, setting high standards and driving technical excellence.
• Lead and mentor engineering teams to build scalable, reliable, and secure data products.
• Own the design, development, and delivery of innovative solutions that power decision-making across the organisation.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders, product owners, and architects to prioritise and deliver the engineering roadmap.
• Drive adoption of modern cloud and data engineering practices, fostering a culture of experimentation, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Stay ahead of industry trends to ensure we remain at the forefront of technology.

Key experience for the role:

• Proven leadership in data engineering, software engineering, or platform development.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure, or AWS.
• Experience in data modelling, design, and cloud-based data migrations.
• Ability to define and uphold engineering standards while aligning with business and architectural goals.
• A forward-thinking, growth mindset, comfortable driving organisational transformation at pace.
• Inclusive leadership skills with a passion for mentoring and empowering diverse teams.

Desirable skills:

• Hands-on expertise with GCP services (BigQuery, Data Fusion, Cloud Composer, IAM, etc.).
• Familiarity with data mesh principles and AI-driven automation.
• Experience managing multiple change initiatives, budgets, and resource allocation.
