Materion Electrofusion, located in Fremont California, focuses on beryllium X-ray window and ultra high vacuum (UHV) products that have been an integral part of our business since the 1970s. The unit also offers electron beam (EB) welding, vacuum furnace brazing and waterjet cutting services, as well as engineering support to help our customers take advantage of these processes.
We are seeking an experienced technician with strong mechanical background to join our team in the manufacture of high purity beryllium products. Here is a brief description of the role:
Main functions include metal fabrication but are not limited to:
■ Receives instructions and work orders for the job. Plans details of working procedure and tools and material requirements.
■ Assembles small parts and assemblies. Uses standard hand tools and special fixtures.
■ Fabricates small parts using specialized machines.
■ Joins parts by electrical soldering and by applying various adhesives.
■ Completes precision cleaning of small parts and assemblies using industry standard solvents and cleaning solutions
■ Performs basic inspection to visual standards and using tools such as calipers, micrometers and electrical meters.
■ Keeps simple records and traceability of all material/parts being processed.
■ Strictly follows processes and procedures in an ISO controlled manufacturing environment.
■ Interfaces with other manufacturing personnel and engineering on progress of assigned tasks.
■ Notifies appropriate personnel of problems with materials, process, or delivery schedule.
■ Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
■ Provides support in EH&S related projects.
■ Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
■ High School Diploma or equivalent.
■ Utilization of basic hand tools normally associated with mechanical assembly and test.
■ Ability to understand verbal and written instructions as well as read and interpret basic blueprints.
■ Must be able to communicate verbally with fellow employees as well as management personnel using English as the primary language.
■ Must be able to perform all duties of a Mechanical Assembler with sustained use of appropriate safety devises such as but not limited to respirators.
■ Must be able to perform highly precision assembly and value added operations at close visual proximity with or without visual aid.
■ Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and DC circuitry
