Job Overview

A knowledgeable and proactive Project Manager (Mechanical & Electrical) is required to lead the delivery of M&E works on a school new build project, alongside elements of ongoing maintenance. The role includes overseeing a range of associated trades, including plumbing, HVAC, and air conditioning, ensuring all works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Strong procurement capability, technical knowledge, and the ability to read and interpret drawings are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Manage M&E packages across a school new build and maintenance works, from pre-construction through to handover.
Oversee daily site activities, ensuring integration and coordination between M&E, plumbing, HVAC/AC, and other relevant trades.
Develop and manage project programmes, resource planning, and procurement schedules to meet milestones and maintain quality.
Lead on the procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor packages, ensuring value for money and timely delivery.
Interpret and work from technical drawings, specifications, and design information to guide on-site execution.
Ensure all RAMS, permits, COSHH, and site safety procedures are in place and followed, promoting a culture of safety excellence.
Monitor budgets, forecast costs, manage subcontractor payments, and support financial reporting and cost control.
Act as the key point of contact for site teams, consultants, and client representatives, ensuring clear communication and stakeholder satisfaction.
Ensure high standards in the installation, commissioning, and documentation of M&E systems; manage O&M manuals and project handover.
Identify risks or issues early and drive solutions to avoid disruption to project progress or safety.Person Specification

Experience in delivering M&E works within education or public sector environments, particularly in new build and occupied settings.
Strong understanding of M&E systems, technical standards, and building services coordination.
Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications to guide installation and problem-solving.
Proven procurement experience, including materials, services, and subcontractor packages.
Demonstrates excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving and team coordination.
Strong commitment to quality, safety, and commercial performance across all project phases.Qualifications
