I'm currently working on behalf of a well-established and respected planning practice in Central London that is looking to appoint a Town Planner with around 1-3 years' professional experience. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive, commercially focused team working on a diverse and high-quality project portfolio across London and the South East.

The Role

You will play an active role in managing and supporting a broad range of planning projects, working closely with senior colleagues and clients. The role offers genuine responsibility from day one, alongside structured mentoring and clear progression opportunities.

Key responsibilities will include:

Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals

Drafting planning statements, site appraisals, and supporting reports

Undertaking research and planning policy analysis

Engaging with local authorities, clients, and external consultants

Attending client meetings and site visits

Supporting senior planners on complex and strategic schemes

The Projects

The consultancy works across a wide range of sectors including:

Residential (from small-scale developments to strategic sites)

Mixed-use schemes

Commercial and office developments

Urban regeneration projects

This role would suit someone keen to broaden their sector exposure and develop strong client-facing experience.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

1-3 years' experience in a planning consultancy or local authority

A relevant RTPI-accredited degree (or working towards MRTPI)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Confidence in drafting high-quality planning reports

A proactive, detail-oriented approach

A genuine interest in progressing within a private consultancy environment
