Curriculum Leader for Humanities – Secondary School | Hounslow | Outer London Leadership Scale | September 2026

A high-performing and values-led secondary school in Hounslow is seeking to appoint an exceptional Curriculum Leader for Humanities to join its ambitious leadership team from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Humanities teacher ready to take the next step into middle leadership, or an existing subject leader looking to further develop their career in a high-achieving and supportive school environment.

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead the Humanities faculty, overseeing subjects such as History, Geography, and Social Sciences while driving excellence in teaching, curriculum design and student outcomes across Key Stages 3–5.

You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to shape the strategic direction of the department, ensuring a curriculum that is ambitious, engaging and aligned with the school’s strong values-based ethos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Humanities faculty

  • Lead curriculum planning, development and implementation across KS3–KS5

  • Drive high standards of teaching and learning across the department

  • Support and develop Humanities staff through coaching and mentoring

  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise attainment

  • Promote enrichment opportunities that deepen students’ understanding of the wider world

  • Contribute to the wider leadership and ethos of the school community

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • A strong academic background in History, Geography or related Humanities discipline

  • A proven track record of excellent classroom teaching and strong student outcomes

  • Leadership experience or readiness to step into a middle leadership role

  • The ability to inspire both students and colleagues

  • A commitment to working within a values-led school community
