Key Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent)
  • Experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting, and external audit
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, accounting standards, and tax (VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE/NI)
  • Skilled in financial reporting, analysis, and Excel
  • Ability to manage budgets and support financial decision-making
  • Experience with financial systems; Not-for-Profit experience helpful
  • High attention to detail, strong organisation, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communicator and team collaborator
  • Proactive, adaptable, and committed to ongoing development
  • Professional approach with commitment to equality, inclusion, and safeguarding

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare statutory financial statements and reports
  • Lead the external audit process and manage auditor relationships
  • Produce balance-sheet reporting and support budgeting and forecasting
  • Conduct financial analysis to inform decisions
  • Oversee financial transactions, reconciliations, and controls
  • Approve key finance activities and support process improvements
  • Complete statutory and regulatory filings, including VAT
  • Provide financial insights and reports to internal teams and committees
  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as auditors and financial institutions
  • Support senior finance leadership when required
  • Contribute to finance projects and improvements
  • Provide guidance to colleagues on financial processes
  • Maintain confidentiality, data integrity, and professional standards
