The school are looking for a behaviour mentor that can work full-time and start for the new academic year in September. You will receive a daily rate starting at £61.20 per day dependant on experience.

As a result of the UK lockdown period pupils are showing increasing needs for behaviour support during lessons. Our partner secondary school are currently seeking someone who can work with a year 7-9 pupils who  struggle to engage in mainstream classes and therefore access part of their education in the schools behaviour provision. The pupils you will be supporting have tendencies to be disruptive in lessons and have trouble concentrating for long periods of time which causes  their peers to also be distracted and disengaged.

Your role will consist of multiple elements of support during the school day, you will be required to work on a 1:1 basis with a selected pupil encouraging and supporting with the work set by the class teacher. In addition to that you will be expected to shadow small groups of pupils in some main stream lessons during the day, ensuring the pupils are ready to work with the correct equipment and on time. During the lessons you may need to combat potential disruption that may arise, de-escalating situations and stepping in to remove the pupil from the lesson if needed.

Our partner school has a base unit that supports all teaching assistants within the school for additional support, additional training and advice when needed. You will have access to learning rooms and the base unit to take the pupil to relax and calm down from any situation that may come up during the day. Alongside this you may also be asked to support intervention lessons for literacy and numeracy to work alongside the Welsh education catch up programme.
