Multi-Trade Operative

  • Job Type: Full-time, Temporary, 37 hours per week

  • Salary: £18.16 per hour PAYE

Our client is seeking a skilled Multi-Trade Operative to join their Housing Repairs team within the City Development & Neighbourhoods division. This role involves carrying out high-quality, customer-focused repairs, adaptations, and refurbishment work to properties and other buildings managed by Leicester City Council.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Undertake multi-trade work and advanced repairs/refurbishment tasks of a core trade to agreed quality and performance standards.
  • Assess and make decisions to complete multi-trade repair/refurbishment work aiming for a ‘right first time’ service.
  • Determine and arrange appropriate resources to complete repairs/refurbishment and remove waste.
  • Liaise with service customers to ensure minimal inconvenience, including appointment scheduling.
  • Manage stock of parts/equipment on vehicles for efficient work completion.
  • Work with colleagues to resolve or report issues (e.g., outstanding repairs, tenancy breaches, safeguarding, H&S).
  • Clean and tidy after repair/refurbishment works.
  • Supervise apprentices and trainees.
  • Carry out miscellaneous duties related to the role.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience in plastering.
  • Experience working in occupied domestic properties, including with vulnerable residents.
  • Strong knowledge of building industry and health & safety regulations.
  • Proficient in ICT system usage, fault tracing, diagnosis, and specification of materials/equipment.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
