School Caretaker – Primary School, Harlow

£16 per hour | Full-time | Temp-to-Perm | Immediate Start (Monday 30th March)

A welcoming and supportive Primary School in Harlow is looking for a reliable and experienced Caretaker to join their site team. This is a fantastic long-term opportunity with a clear route to a permanent contract.

About the Role

• Full-time, 5 days per week
• Initial working hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm
• Shift patterns may become available later
• Pay: £16 per hour
• After a successful 15-week period, the role becomes permanent, with an annual salary of £26,900
• Immediate start required – Monday 30th March

Key Responsibilities

• General maintenance and handyperson tasks across the school site
• Basic plumbing and electrical maintenance (essential)
• Minor repairs, safety checks, and upkeep of school facilities
• Ensuring the site is safe, clean, and well-presented for pupils and staff
• Opening/closing the school building when required
• Supporting health & safety compliance

Requirements

• Enhanced DBS for the Child Workforce, registered on the Update Service
  • (Or willingness to apply – £49 initial cost, refunded after 20 shifts)
• 2 years of work references
• Experience in general maintenance, repairs, basic plumbing, and basic electrical work
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Reliable, trustworthy, and confident working in a school environment
