pecial Educational Needs Assistant

We are seeking a Special Educational Needs Assistant to support pupils with SEND and lower attainment needs to access the curriculum. This can either be a full or part time position.

Starting Salary: £26,000- £30,000pa + excellent further training and career progression opportunities, 13 weeks paid holidays.

Duties and responsibilities include • Prepare pupils for learning through strategies such as pre-teaching vocabulary and reinforcing key concepts. • Implement strategies and interventions outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCPs. • Follow and promote the school's values. Promote Independence and Confidence • Use scaffolding techniques to help pupils gradually take ownership of their learning. • Encourage problem-solving and resilience to reduce reliance on adult support. • Promote confidence and self-esteem through praise and structured opportunities for independence. 1 Deliver Targeted Interventions • Plan and deliver time-limited, evidence-based interventions linked to classroom learning as appropriate for individual pupils and small groups. Support will be provided by the Head of Learning Support. • Monitor and record progress, ensuring interventions are reviewed regularly. • Maintain strong links between intervention sessions and whole class teaching to avoid isolation.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential • GCSEs or equivalent at a Grade C/4 and above including Maths and English • A levels at a Grade C or above Desirable • Degree or working towards a degree • Level 3 Diploma (e.g., childcare or Ba in Education or Special Needs Education from Uk or overseas) •

Experience Essential • Experience supporting children with SEND in an education setting or clubs/organisations • Passion for inclusive practice and equality of opportunity • Ability to work collaboratively and implement interventions • Ability to monitor progress and feedback to parents, staff, and external agencies • Commitment to and understanding of Safeguarding Desirable • One-year experience working with children • Experience delivering personalised learning programmes for individuals and small groups • Experience engaging young people with complex and challenging behaviours Familiarity with KS2 curriculum • Experience supporting literacy and numeracy • Knowledge of evidence-based interventions 3 Aptitude, skills and abilities Essential • Good IT competency (Office 365) • Good numeracy and written skills • Knowledge of teaching and ability to design personalised learning programmes • Sensitivity and understanding of complex needs • Patience and ability to remain calm under pressure • Ability to work well with others • Flexibility and openness to change • Ability to create positive learning conditions • Positive behaviour management strategies • Understanding of Safeguarding Desirable • Attachment Theory • Safe Handling techniques (for example Team Teach) • Ability to promote independence and confidence Personal attributes Essential • Excellent communication and listening skills • Ability to deal confidentially and professionally with individuals at all levels • Flexible approach and ability to multitask in a busy environment Desirable • Strong organisational skills • Ability to act as a positive role model
