Social Worker - Children - Family Support Team in Milton Keynes

Family Support Teams are made up of ASYE, Social Workers and Senior Practitioners there is a Deputy Team Manager and a Team Manager.

We hold Child in Need, Child Protection, Looked After Children / Court through to the end of proceedings. On average caseloads are 10 families which is approximately 22 children, everyone's caseload is a mixture of CIN and CP and the more experienced staff hold court cases but no more than 3 families at one time this can include private proceedings completing Section 7 or 37 reports.

Supervision is held every 4 weeks this is personal and case supervision. Our current working arrangements due to COVID-19 are all children and families are seen for home visits within statutory timescales, when staff are not completing visits they are working from home and predominantly all meetings, such as, core group, family support and Strategy Meetings are held via Microsoft Teams. This is with the support of all staff having access to their own smart phone and Surface Pro tablet. We only expect staff to be in the office up to 2 days a week if they are on duty or duty back up which on average is 3 times a month, or if they have booked and planned to be in the office to complete a piece of work. WFH is acceptable at other times. Flexi hours can be discussed on an individual basis, Friday's workers will have the choice of a shorter lunch and a 4 0'clock finish.

In Family Support we are extremely fortunate to have access to FAST and SAIT, who we can refer to for our families to receive direct work, interventions, and assessments. This will include parenting skills - boundaries and managing behaviour, specialist assessments - PAMS, Adult Attachment Interview, Story Stems and much more.

Family support will end once risk issues are minimised & families have established a more consistent way to meet children's needs.
