Graduate Teaching Assistant - Special School (Barking and Dagenham)

We are currently recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive special school in Barking and Dagenham, working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs (SEN). This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to begin a career in education and gain meaningful, hands-on classroom experience.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to help pupils access learning in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. The school in Barking and Dagenham provides tailored education for children with additional needs, and you will play a key role in supporting both academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities - Graduate Teaching Assistant:

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Assist in delivering tailored learning activities across the curriculum
• Help implement individual education plans (IEPs)
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and therapists
• Adapt resources to meet individual learning needs
• Contribute to a safe and inclusive classroom environment in Barking and Dagenham

About You:

• Health and Social Care or Psychology Graduate in education and training
• Passionate about working in education and supporting children with special needs
• Patient, empathetic, and resilient
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Previous experience with SEN (voluntary or paid) is desirable but not essential
