Proposal Engineer
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 (Depending on Experience)
Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Proposal Engineer to join our team in Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity offering clear career progression to Bid Manager.

You'll play a key role in managing and delivering competitive proposals, tenders, and bids for low-voltage (LV) electrical projects. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you'll help us secure new contracts and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead proposal submissions - manage the full proposal lifecycle, including technical queries, document preparation, and deadline tracking.

Prepare PQQs and tenders - ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with client requirements.

Develop commercial proposals - create costed bids with input from engineering, procurement, and commercial teams.

Support sales - assist in building strong client proposals and identifying opportunities.

Collaborate with teams - work cross-functionally to improve competitiveness and efficiency.

Manage risk & compliance - ensure proposals meet health & safety, legal, and company standards.

Build relationships - liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to support successful proposals.

Maintain records - keep accurate logs of proposal activity, versions, and communications.

Drive improvements - contribute to better proposal processes and higher win rates.

Requirements:

Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering

Strong understanding of LV Electrical systems

Background in project-based environments

Proven experience in proposals, tenders, or bids

Excellent communication and document writing skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel & Word)

Strong attention to detail and organisation

Proactive and problem-solving mindset
