About the role

The SEND Teacher role involves teaching groups of children with additional needs such as ASD, PMLD, MLD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. We are looking for an inspiring practitioner who is qualified working with secondary aged students, desirably with a specialism or experience in a SEND setting previously.

You will hold substantial subject knowledge and will be able to inspire and nurture pupils to a higher level of learning through tailored curricula. You will also be responsible for organising the supporting staff in the classroom.

Your daily routine will involve continuously adapting and working alongside pupils to make their time in school as beneficial and productive as possible. Your main objective will be to support these pupils with this, as well as making sure they are not displaying any triggers or any signs of unease. Adaptability, patience and an resilient attitude will be key to success in this role.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of SEN Secondary Teacher you will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS).
Demonstrate the ability for planning, preparing and delivering appropriate lessons and individual education programmes
Be dedicated and supportive, an excellent communicator and passionate about working with students with SEND.
Many of the pupils have limited verbal communication skills, so experience with Makaton, British Sign Language, and/or PECS would be an advantage.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS).
Role will be paid to scale (MPS/UPS).
