Our client situated in a quiet area of Northampton, is dedicated to providing both short and long term care for older people. They are a purpose built complex, equipped and decorated to the highest standards. Due to retirement, our client is now looking for a Cook to join them on a full-time basis. The main purpose of the role is to the provide a well balanced, nutritious, varied and enjoyable diet for the Residents whilst maintaining high standards of kitchen management in line with current Food Hygiene and Safety legislation. Other responsibilities of the role include: Liaising with Kitchen Assistants/Assistant Cooks in respect of cleaning schedules/food preparation Ensuring he cleanliness of the kitchen environment is maintained, including routine daily and weekly cleaning programmes. Ensuring the appropriate periodic cleaning of Still, Deep freezers and deep fat fryer. Undertaking regular checks of all kitchen equipment and machinery, including regular temperature checks on fridges and freezers, reporting any faults to the manager. Creating weekly menus, to ensure the provision of a well balanced, nutritious, varied and enjoyable, including the provision of portions which are suitable to meet the needs of the Residents. Ensuring any special diets are catered for ( diabetics, gluten free) Undertaking regular checks of the contents of freezers/stores to ensure adequate supplies are available for the following weeks menus Preparing and cooking breakfasts, afternoon tea and snacks as required Preparing and cooking lunch to include the choice of 2 main courses Making appropriate arrangements for ensuring the provision of supper. To be successful for this role you must have some previous experience in a Cook role and ideally hold a NVQ Level 2 in Food Hygiene or ; This is a full time role, working 33 hours per week on a rota basis to include some weekends.
