About the Role:
We are seeking a committed and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our Locality Service within Children's Services. This role plays a vital part in delivering early help and prevention support to children, young people and their families, working holistically with the whole family to improve outcomes and reduce the need for statutory intervention.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating closely with professionals in Health, Education, Youth Justice, Social Care, and the Youth Service. You will use evidence-based approaches to assess needs, develop SMART outcome-focused plans, and deliver high-quality support through both direct and group work.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments of children, young people, and families, and deliver timely interventions based on identified needs.
Develop and implement SMART outcome-based plans to support families and improve wellbeing.
Work closely with colleagues across disciplines to ensure a whole-family approach.
Act as Lead Professional where appropriate, coordinating support and maintaining professional standards.
Deliver advice, guidance and direct support to families in line with the Council's practice model.
Monitor and review progress, ensuring that assessments, plans and reports are completed to a high standard.
Use risk indicators such as domestic abuse, mental health or neglect to identify and deliver early interventions.
Participate in service evaluation, audits, reviews and feedback processes to support continuous improvement.
Comply with all health and safety, data protection, and safeguarding procedures.
Essential Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in direct work with children, young people and families.
Experience working within a diverse community and equal opportunities framework.
Ability to think creatively, manage priorities and meet deadlines.
Skilled in mentoring others and applying best practice standards.
Strong understanding of family support methods and local authority statutory functions.
Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and early help frameworks.
Proficiency in IT and digital systems relevant to case recording and communication.
