Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive? This mainstream primary school is seeking a dedicated, compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our nurturing and inclusive team.

About the Role

The Orchard is a small, supportive specialist provision designed to meet the needs of children with a range of social, emotional, and communication difficulties. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop confidence, and enjoy their school experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support for children with Special Educational Needs
  • Supporting children with communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and behaviour
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering a personalised, differentiated curriculum
  • Helping create a calm, safe, and engaging learning environment
  • Using strategies and resources to promote independence and positive behaviour
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:

  • Supporting children with autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other SEND profiles
  • Working in specialist or mainstream education settings
  • Using communication aids, visual supports, or regulation strategies
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour management
