Our client is looking for a hands on Finance Manager to manage and improve their accounts function as the company is undergoing a period of growth. The Finance Manager will report to the FD and work closely with the MD. This role will also have oversight of 2 junior accounts staff.
Turnover is approx. £17m . This will be a key appointment to support the company in achieving its potential.
On offer is a salary of approx £40k-£50k, negotiable.
Assignment Details
Job Summary : Full control/ownership of day-to-day accounting operations:
Sales Ledger & Purchase Ledger
- Manage the sales ledger and purchase ledger staff, guiding and assisting where necessary
- Be prepared to give hands-on help where required with reconciliations and query resolution
- Proactively assist with credit control where required
- Take ownership of the debt collection escalation process
- Take responsibility for reviewing supplier payment runs
- Weekly management reports on aged debt to update relevant managers and liaise to progress collections
Bank & Nominal Ledger
- Assist with daily bank reconciliations and resolving any queries arising
- Take responsibility for Direct Debit collections
- Take primary responsibility for month end balance sheet reconciliations and journals
- Assist with cash flow forecasting, budgeting and month end reporting
Other
- Assist with weekly and monthly payroll
- Assist with periodic leasing and bank audits
- Manage VAT submissions
- Any additional duties or projects that may be required
Skills Required
- A relevant qualification in accounting or finance.
- Thrives in a busy SME environment and handles stressful situations calmly and professionally
- A wide all-round range of experience, including both sales and purchase ledger
- Ability to manage and motivate staff and happy to be hands-on when necessary
- Deal with colleagues (internal and external) at all levels
- Highly numerate with a strong level of attention to detail
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work to prioritise and achieve deadlines
- Previous Sage 50 experience.
- A strong level of Excel expertise and generally good IT literacy.
- Experience of leases and invoice financing would be an advantage
- A self-starter who can identify problems and take measures to resolve them
- An enthusiastic and motivated individual who is capable of visualising and influencing positive change
