Sub-Contractor Payments – Finance Assistant

Join a leading construction firm based in Central London as a Sub-Contractor Payments Assistant. This role is crucial for managing and executing payment processes and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proficient in financial software, and have a strong understanding of construction industry practices.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Process subcontractor payment runs every Friday.
- Handle both internal and external queries related to payments.
- Perform statement reconciliations and maintain VAT records.
- Maintain forecast payment reports and manage debtor reports including applications and certificates.
- Monitor VAT status, perform credit control, and match cash transactions.
- Maintain contract documents centrally using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, including client valuation schedules, new contract forms, copies of contracts, final account statements, and project completion certificates.
- Invoice processing, maintaining reports, and handling queries related to invoicing.
- Check and ensure timely invoicing of scrap metal loads, and investigate any discrepancies with site teams.
- Conduct monthly maintenance of internal cost and revenue transfers.
- Review and communicate accruing costs status for jobs completing or closing.
- Assist in the collation of documents for the annual audit.
- Conduct monthly ONS surveys and participate in the invoicing protocol.
- Maintain records to avoid misallocation of legacy costs.
- Provide general holiday cover for the subcontractor and sales ledger teams.
Experience in Construction/Engineering Finance is strongly preferred, this is a growing business and there will be scope to learn and develop alongside the needs of the business.
