Job Description

In 2007, after spending several years in the mortgage industry as a leading top producer, it was all yanked away from me during the financial collapse.

I lost everything and was on the brink of homelessness.

This was arguably the first time that I truly faced financial adversity in my life. I didn’t know how to pay my bills. Sometimes, this meant going without hot water or electricity. I remember sneaking my trash to my neighbor’s bin because I couldn’t afford my garbage bill and believe it or not, that wasn’t even my lowest point.

I was desperate. I needed something different, something that would seriously pay the bills, and QUICK.

After hearing from a friend about an insurance position that was open, I took the job and started working with the nation’s largest final expense insurance company. I had no idea what it was all about at first, but I knew I’d try just about anything at that point.

I guess you could say that’s exactly what happened to me. I recognized a tremendous opportunity and jumped on it.

Things were still incredibly hard at first. During this time, my ex-wife took my kids away from me and I was beyond financially helpless. I struggled to get them back. I thought that things couldn’t get any worse and then, during our custody battle, I received the news that my father had passed away. I reached rock bottom.

This created a defining point in my life. I could stay at rock bottom or I could choose to go on. We all go through adversity, but the difference boils down to what a person does when faced with those obstacles. With my mind made up, I decided to forge ahead, learn the business, and go vehemently to work.

WITHIN ONLY FIVE YEARS, I was making an excess of $250,000/year.

When I entered the business, there was already a proven system to succeed. I wasn’t reinventing the wheel. Luckily, I was smart enough to become coachable and follow the plan that experts in the business readily provided me. There were a lot of long days and it was hard work at first, but it became easier and easier when I saw the money trickle in within 24 hours of every completed deal.

Within three months, I had established myself not only as a top producer but also as a leader. I started to build my own agency, which is now United Leaders & Associates (ULA).
