Directs the maintenance activities on a designated shift in a safe and efficient manner to achieve the desired quality, quantity and timely maintenance of all production machinery/equipment, physical plant, utilities and grounds in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and company policies.
Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities:
Manages shift maintenance activities through the supervision of employees to ensure the shift’s maintenance objectives are accomplished.
Develops and improves the preventative maintenance program on the designated shift to maintain production equipment and alarm systems in an efficient, safe operating condition.
Manages shift activities with outside vendors on projects, repairs, or maintenance.
Ensures proper maintenance and safety procedures are being followed and performs audits to maintain compliance.
Oversees shift inventories of supplies, spare parts, maintenance materials and repair parts.
Controls, tracks, and minimizes the shift’s overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, and equipment downtime.
Oversees corrections and running adjustments of equipment to maximize production capabilities during shift.
Coordinates shift change-overs of equipment or preventative maintenance according to production schedules.
Ensures compliance to all federal, state and local laws and company policies.
Maintains good employee, corporate and community relations and working relationships with labor union.
Maintains company standards for cleanliness, safety and productivity in the maintenance area.
Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, lift and bend while moving about the facility. The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the plant is loud. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip resistant shoes, and gloves are requires as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
2-3 years maintenance supervisory/group leader experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry.
Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment and functions.
Strong leadership skills.
Strong safety knowledge
Directly supervises 2-15 employees in the maintenance area. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and results of the maintenance area during a designated shift. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling and appraising employees; planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints/grievances and resolving problems.
