Interim Assistant Director - Major Projects
Location: London

We are delighted to be supporting our client in the recruitment of a 'Interim Assistant Director' to join their major projects and estates team!
Purpose:
This projects programme team is responsible for managing the delivery of all capital works across the Estate, from inception through to operational phases. This includes new builds, refurbishment, adaption, as well as infrastructure and public realm works. The projects are bespoke facilities designed and constructed to industry-leading standards.
The Assistant Director will be responsible for the delivery of the Major Projects Portfolio which includes leading the completion of several significant projects currently in delivery, as well as bringing forward pipeline projects within the portfolio.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and coordinate the programme of projects from inception, design, construction, mobilisation and post project reviews to agreed specifications, achieving time, cost, quality parameters and full compliance with health, safety, statutory and environmental obligations and best practice regarding accessibility.
- Lead and manage a team of internal Project Managers; proactively manage the performance of project team, ensuring the effective induction of new staff and the ongoing direction, guidance, appraisal and development of individuals; promote a customer focused, constructively challenging, responsive and adaptable service.
- Adopting risk mapping and mitigation strategies and making transparent and validated decisions.
- Ensure full and transparent reporting, to meet the requirements of governance/committee procedures, financial regulations etc. working closely with the Portfolio Services team, internal and external auditors and wider partners for consistent project/programme reporting.
Key Person Specification:
- Experience necessary to provide professional, technical and strategic advice relating to all phases of the build environment life cycle, at a senior management level.
- A people leader with demonstrable experience of managing and developing a high performing team, with training in people management and leadership skills within similarly scaled organisations.
- Relevant experience in a project and programme leadership role with responsibility for procuring and managing a portfolio of major capital projects in live, physically congested, high public footfall urban environments.
