SEN Teaching Assistant

Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with a small, independent secondary school near Putney Bridge that is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support Year 9 pupils with dyslexia, ASD and ADHD.

The school delivers a mainstream-style curriculum in small classes of 3-8 pupils, with a strong emphasis on engagement, skills development and enrichment, rather than exam-focused outcomes. This is a nurturing, structured environment where pupils are supported to build confidence and independence in learning.

Role Detail

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant (Dyslexia & ADHD

Location: Fulham (District Line and local bus routes

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:25am - 3:30pm (term time only)

Start Date: ASAP

About the Role
  • Provide 1:1 and in-class support across a range of subjects, focusing on access to learning rather than exam results

  • Support pupils in English, Maths and Humanities at a pre-GCSE / foundation level

  • Assist during practical and creative lessons, including Food Technology, Art, Design Technology and enrichment sessions

  • Support small groups using differentiated and adapted learning activities

  • Use Google Classroom, Docs and Slides to support organisation and learning

  • Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt resources for pupils with SEND

Person Specification
  • Understanding of dyslexia, ADHD and additional learning needs

  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills to support learning across subjects

  • Confident using Google Workspace

  • Interest or experience in creative, practical or enrichment-based subjects (e.g. Food Technology, Art, Design Technology, Sport, Gaming)

  • Graduates are welcome, though this is not essential

Compliance Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Two years' references

  • Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete)
