Salary: £27.00 - £53.95 per hour

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Commercial Vehicle Technician to join a busy transport workshop team maintaining a large fleet of vehicles and equipment. You will carry out inspections, servicing, repairs, and MOT testing (Class 4, 5, & 7), ensuring that all work meets strict safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair vehicles, HGVs, plant, and specialist equipment.
  • Complete inspections and MOT testing as a Nominated Tester (VOSA accreditation).
  • Maintain accurate records using Fleetwave and other IT systems.
  • Conduct off-site inspections, roadside assistance, and vehicle recoveries.
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety and operator license regulations.
  • Support workshop management in delivering performance targets and service improvements.
  • Handle cash transactions for MOT services in line with set procedures.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Motor Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
  • Qualified Commercial Vehicle Inspector (VOSA) and Nominated MOT Tester (Classes 4-7).
  • Valid LGV Category C (HGV Class 2) license (essential).
  • Forklift truck license (desirable or willing to obtain).
  • Strong working knowledge of diagnostics, hydraulics, and commercial vehicle repairs.
  • Confident using IT systems including Microsoft Office; experience with Fleetwave an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, managing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, reliable, and committed to continuous improvement.

Desirable Experience:

  • Welding and electrical repair skills.
  • Grounds maintenance and specialist vehicle equipment knowledge.
  • Previous experience in a local authority or public sector environment.
