About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil. The child is currently working at an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) academic level and accesses learning within an alternative provision setting within the school.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s educational journey by providing consistent, tailored support to meet their individual needs on an ongoing basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs, both in the classroom and alternative provision setting
- Support learning activities adapted to EYFS level
- Assist in managing and supporting behaviour in a positive and consistent manner
- Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and wider staff team
- Follow and implement the child’s EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan)
- Meet the child at the start of each day and ensure a consistent handover with parents/carers
- Support the child’s social, emotional, and academic development
About the Child
- Diagnosis of Autism
- Has an EHCP in place
- Engages in learning at an EYFS level
- Benefits from routine, consistency, and a nurturing approach
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to have one processes.
- Hold an in date safeguarding certificate or be willing to complete one
- Experience working with children with SEND, particularly Autism
- Experience supporting children with SEMH and behavioural needs
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
