Southwark College, part of NCG is looking to recruit a talented Learning Mentor to support our Young ESOL students, who are aged 16-18 years of age and have recently come to the UK. The ideal candidate would be able to start in September 25, but we would consider later start dates for exceptional candidates. Based at our Southwark College site, close to Waterloo Station, the successful candidate will be part of team of a large ESOL teaching team.

Learning Mentor -Young ESOL

Southwark College, part of NCG is looking to recruit a talented Learning Mentor to support our Young ESOL students, who are aged 16-18 years of age and have recently come to the UK. The ideal candidate would be able to start in September 25, but we would consider later start dates for exceptional candidates. Based at our Southwark College site, close to Waterloo Station, the successful candidate will be part of team of a large ESOL teaching team.

The main duties of the post holder are:

  • To teach the tutorial curriculum to Young ESOL students in their weekly group tutorials
  • To hold 1 to 1 meetings with Young ESOL students to support them in their studies
  • To support the curriculum team in finding out the reasons for poor student attendance and / or behavioral issues. This will involve close liaison with student services and outside agencies
  • To support students outside of lessons to complete their assessments.
  • To plan and lead local student fieldtrips in London
  • To keep accurate records of student attendance and progress for Young ESOL students
