Park Avenue Recruitment is supporting a Local Authority in East Anglia to appoint a Private Sector Housing Officer to support the implementation of the Renters' Rights Act. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in preparing and adapting services in line with upcoming legislative changes affecting the private rented sector.

Working within the Private Sector Housing team, you'll help ensure the council is ready to deliver against the new requirements, reviewing existing processes, supporting policy updates, and helping embed new operational practices across the service.

Key Responsibilities

Support the implementation of the Renters' Rights Bill within the Private Sector Housing service
Review current procedures and help develop new policies, guidance, and workflows aligned with the legislation
Work with internal teams to ensure services are prepared operationally and strategically for the changes
Assist with service planning, reporting, and project coordination linked to the legislation rollout
Provide advice and support on private rented sector regulation and enforcement frameworks
Engage with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition to the new regulatory environmentAbout You

Experience working in Private Sector Housing, Environmental Health, Housing Regulation, or a related local authority service
Understanding of housing legislation and the private rented sector
Experience supporting legislative change, service transformation, or policy implementation is highly desirable
Project management experience or involvement in implementing new legislation or regulatory frameworks would be advantageous
Strong organisational and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to translate legislation into practical operational processesThis role would suit someone who enjoys working at the intersection of policy, legislation, and service delivery, and who wants to play a key role in shaping how councils respond to the evolving private rented sector landscape.
