Salary: £25.00 - £30.00/hour

Prospero Teaching are seeking a compassionate, engaging, and experienced SEN Tutor to support a young person in Year 10 who is currently at risk of permanent exclusion (PEX). The successful candidate will deliver 12 hours of bespoke, 1:1 tuition per week in the Southampton (SO16) area.

About the Young Person:

Year 10 student, not currently working at Age-Related Expectations (ARE)
Has an EHCP and a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and selective mutism
Requires support with emotional regulation and re-engagement in learning
Needs a Tutor who can build trust, boost confidence, and create personalised learning sessionsAs a Tutor, you will:

Plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons that meet the student's individual needs and interests
Support the young person in developing emotional regulation strategies
Foster a positive, supportive, and safe learning environment
Gradually build a strong rapport and encourage participation at the student's own pace
Work closely with parents/carers and other professionals as neededAbout you:

Have at least 1 year of experience working within UK schools
Are confident in planning and delivering creative, learner-centred sessions
Experience working with young people with ASD, selective mutism, and/or EHCPs (essential)
Kind, patient, and considerate approach
Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials creatively
Confident in supporting emotional and social developmentPosition - Tutor

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young peopleTo be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

Hold right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide references upon request
Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
