IT Support Engineer

The successful candidate will be involved in supporting Customers with regards to meeting IT support requirements and resolving their IT issues. It is expected that the candidate will have worked in an IT Support environment for at least two years and will have the skills and experience to handle typical calls regarding desktop or server support.

Along with the Line 1 team you will provide remote support and will also work on site with Customers therefore it is important that you have excellent communication skills as well as the ability to problem solve logically. The ideal person will have a proactive and flexible approach to work, be confident when working alone and will have a passion for IT. You will be keen to develop your own skills and above all deliver great solutions and superb service to our Customers. This is a diverse role with plenty of scope to develop and grow with the company.

The Role

Resolving 1st and 2nd line cases in line with service level agreements

Remote support

Field support - occasional overnight stays will be required

Updating support CRM system with case details

Performing remote maintenance and keeping logs updated

Taking ownership of issue and seeing them through to completion

Working from our office in Ayr

Working hours 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday

Participate in on call and out of hours rota

28 Days holiday per year

The person

You will be educated to at least HND or equivalent in a computing subject.

Previous experience of IT support in a multi customer environment

Will have experience and a passion for troubleshooting

Hands on networking experience, including patching and setting up firewalls

You will be able to work under pressure and be able to use your initiative as well as working collaboratively as part of a team.

You will have excellent communication skills

You will possess a professional attitude towards work and learning

Confident to work alone at a customer site

Skills Required

Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

Hands on break/fix experience for desktops, servers and ICT hardware

Ability to confidently talk customers through issues on the phone

Ability to multitask and prioritise multiple support cases

Experience of monitoring and maintaining systems and networks

Installation and setting up Windows systems

Product Experience

Windows Server (Apply online only) SBS with Active Directory knowledge

VMware/Hyper-V/Veeam

Microsoft SQL

ADSL/VDSL Routers and firewalls

VPN and Remote Access systems

Centralised AntiVirus software

Microsoft 365

VoIP

Requirements

Previous experience as an IT helpdesk or IT service engineer

Full clean UK driving licence is essential
