About the Opportunity
Leader Recruitment Group, a premier recruitment agency specialising in children's residential care, is excited to represent our client in their search for a dedicated and dynamic Registered Manager to lead a brand-new 4-bed children's home in Nottingham. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape a high-quality, relationship-focused service that supports young people aged 12-17, fostering emotional resilience and preparing them for successful transitions into adulthood. As the Registered Manager, you will have full accountability for the home's operations, supported by a Responsible Individual and Operational Directors, and play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding care in line with the organisation's values and ethos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the 4-bed home, ensuring high-quality care that promotes young people's rights and meets organisational policies and Ofsted regulations.

  • Lead a team of care workers to deliver relationship-based, anti-discriminatory care that supports the physical, psychological, emotional, and social development of young people.

  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation systems, maintaining accurate records for young people and staff.

  • Manage admissions and discharges, liaising with commissioners and referral managers to ensure smooth transitions.

  • Drive service development, innovating new approaches to childcare and contributing to the organisation's senior team.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, safeguarding procedures, and equal opportunities practices.

  • Recruit, induct, supervise, and appraise staff, overseeing continuous professional development and mandatory training.

  • Manage the service budget, financial transactions, and maintenance of the home's premises and equipment.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with external agencies, professionals, and the community to promote the home positively.

  • Participate in on-call duties and, if required, undertake sleep-in shifts to cover shortfalls.

Candidate Requirements

  • Essential: Experience managing a team in a children's residential care setting.

  • Essential: Comprehensive knowledge of child protection, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation, including Ofsted SCCIF and The Children Act 1989.

  • Essential: Holds or is working towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young People's Management) or equivalent.

  • Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with young people, colleagues, and external agencies.

  • Strong understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people and a commitment to trauma-informed care.

  • Enthusiastic, resilient, and flexible leader with high standards of safe working practice.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect boundaries, and promote equal opportunities.

  • Essential: Full UK driving licence and access to appropriate transport (business insurance required if using own vehicle).

  • Willingness to participate in on-call duties and occasional sleep-in shifts.
