We are seeking a Senior Finance Manager to lead the financial operations within our esteemed educational organisation. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with statutory duties, providing robust financial reporting, and supporting the leadership team in making strategic decisions to maintain financial health.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Ensure adherence to financial guidelines and statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with budget holders to facilitate effective financial management.
  • Coordinate financial support and reporting for primary schools, guaranteeing robust financial management.
  • Advocate for efficient procurement practices and assist budget holders in achieving best value.
  • Contribute to the formulation of financial strategies, policies, and business planning processes.
  • Offer guidance and training to finance staff to meet statutory requirements.
  • Aid in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Assure the quality of financial reporting and aid in providing financial information to the board and other stakeholders.
  • Address issues identified by external and internal audit functions.
  • Support core monthly financial processes and tasks, such as reconciliations, postings, month-end completion, and management accounts preparation.
  • Develop robust processes and controls for financial transactions.
  • Focus on maximising opportunities for investment returns and income generation.
  • Conduct financial evaluations of new projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of financial returns, reports, and submissions.
  • Oversee taxation principles applicable to the Trust and the financial implications of charitable status.
  • Play a pivotal role in fraud prevention and support fraud awareness training.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a finance role within an educational or similar setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial compliance and statutory requirements.
  • Strong grasp of accounting practices and financial management.
  • Proficiency in financial ICT systems and applications.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to forge and maintain professional relationships.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for necessary travel.
