Are you passionate about building safety and community engagement? Our client, a leading public sector organisation located in Ealing, London, is looking for two enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join their team as Assistant Building Safety Managers. This is a fantastic temporary opportunity for those looking to make a difference in the community while ensuring compliance with building safety legislation.

Position Details:

  • Contract Type: Temporary
  • Contract Length: 3 months
  • Annual Salary: £27.71 per hour PAYE or £36.84 Umbrella
  • Working Pattern: Full Time - onsite each week 3-5 days
  • Location: Ealing, London (just a 12-minute walk from Ealing Broadway train station)
  • Driving Required: No

Purpose of the Role:As an Assistant Building Safety Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring Ealing's residential blocks are managed daily in compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the completion of certifications is accurately reported in the Compliance Management System.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert for assigned buildings and responding promptly to inquiries.
  • Engaging with residents regarding fire and safety issues, establishing yourself as their main point of contact.
  • Monitoring and reporting on building safety for managed blocks.
  • Overseeing contractors to ensure adherence to Ealing's policies and building safety standards.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Serve as the designated Accountable Officer for your assigned buildings.
  • Conduct regular inspections (3 to 4 times per week) and monthly block inspections.
  • Identify and manage building safety risks, ensuring timely remediation of issues.
  • Create and update building-specific evacuation plans.
  • Promote and deliver Ealing's Resident Engagement Strategy.

Ideal Candidate:We are looking for individuals with the following qualifications and skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of building safety legislation, including the Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Act.
  • Expertise in building safety management within residential environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in a local authority or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with fire safety regulations and conducting inspections.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Educated to A-level or equivalent in Maths & English (Grades A*-C).
  • CIOB level 6 diploma in Building Safety Management or IFE/CIOB accreditation (or working towards).
  • Commitment to ongoing CPD for building safety knowledge enhancement.
